Dillon Bastan and Alina Kano

Installation On-site June 4th:
Sonic Dioramas
Multiple miniature dioramas with sound-driven situations and a strong relationship between sound, space, and design. The number of dioramas can vary depending on space available.

About the Artist(s):
Dillon is not Dylan, Alina is not Alinugh. But............ . . their works ARE cooperative (by design) and they like to work together (do they???)! Sound and vision.

Clowns and Fetuses

Performance On-site June 4th:
Our Lady of The Cat--a Sonic Mystery Play
Medieval mystery plays were perhaps the most popular form of drama throughout the Middle Ages. These colorful outdoor pageants included song cycles and feudal-era special effects. Many celebrated the lives of saints and other luminaries.

After priests were banned from these "unseemly" productions, it fell to the guilds of the day
to present them.

Installation On-site June 4th:
Winds of Change
The area of Angels Gate has high consistent winds at certain times of the day. Because of this I have created a piece that will work with the wind, creating sound all day then glow at night as it continues to create sound.
Most of my work is made of poured resin (see image1). When I decommission a piece of art, I do not throw it away. I take it apart and pack up by color into storage bins to be used at a later date. Well that time has come.

Performance On-site June 4th:
Barkeep
Barkeep is an ongoing series of recorded pieces and a solo live performance approach for feedback, computer controlled effects units and performance mixing. By putting unexceptional and inexpensive digital hardware into a feedback loop, continual conversation ensues - coaxed by pre-arranged MIDI suggestion and facilitated live by performer - Barkeep chooses not to articulate sensibility but lets gear sing to one another into an unbalanced chorus.

Installation On-site June 4th:
Framing Frequency
Framing Frequency is a series of 3 clock radios that have been deconstructed and recontextualized in boxes constructed out of decorative frames. Each radio is tuned to a different talk radio station in different languages so that the result is a uncomprehend able conversation that may include advertisements, music, stories, debates, news, etc.

Installation On-site June 4th:
Sound Sails
"Sound Sails" uncovers and amplifies the hidden sounds generated by the natural world as wind passes through man-made contraptions. Three separate wind vanes, each constructed from a different material (wood, steel, and PVC plastic), catch and respond to the wind in their own unique way. These sculptural objects act as studies on their materials – how does their material affect the sound produced? How can these objects make manifest, visually and aurally, the dynamic character of nature present all around us?
