Performance On-site June 3rd:
soundShoppe Ensemble
We form a sound orchestra, consisting of several musicians. Instruments will include circuit bent/homemade devices, accordions, bowed instruments, modular synthesizers, acoustic objects that make sounds (such as long reeds whipped into the air), gongs, percussion objects, voice, drones, guitars, whistles and other indescribable objects. Sound will range from quiet to loud, from drones & clicks to static.

Blue Noise, 2023
I just started my research into "Blue Noise". The benefits (better sleep for example) of it's close companion "White Noise" (a noise that contains all frequencies across the spectrum of audible sound in equal measure) has been researched by scientists for many years. This video-sculpture documents my first steps into the "Blue Noise" deep down in a Pacific Ocean cave.

Gallery show, May 13 - June 17:
The totem/tower is a mixed media collaborative work by Bill Faecke, Bill Jaros, and Nguyen Ly depicting abstract wheels, the cosmos, portraits of mystics, cult leaders, musicians, martyrs, and authoritarians. This work offers a meditation on the conflation of various identifiers of meaning, as it also leaves open the consideration of their hierarchy, significance, or correlation.

Onomatopoeia
For this exhibition I wish to explore the idea of onomatopoeia, the use of words to describe sounds, expanding this concept to use imagery to describe sound. Using a Cybernetic Model KB 20 digital display, words such as “bang”, “pow” and “zing” scroll by in relation to abstract images mounted below. The viewer is left with symbols of sound with no actual sonic representation.

Surrender
I had to become purple in order to see and hear the purple things.

I had to give my body to their mouths, before I could speak.

I had to touch the unstable ground, lay myself down on it, and become sediment, before I could stand.
