Heather Williamson

Heather Williamson is a multifaceted Artist based in the CA desert whose creative practice includes filmmaking, photography, writing, installation, sound, and her music project, Negro Cat. Heather expresses reality totality. She is known for provoking thought, and feeling. Invoking harmony.

"Untitled" Selected Works 2015-2019

A statement from the Artist:
“It's not easy to open myself up and be vulnerable but it's harder not to
Sometimes I feel everything I live with is a curse but in these moments where
I am no longer... I feel right I feel sure I feel confident... I feel I feel”

Heather resides in the High Desert

Statement:
Hello, my name is Heather It's been some years to say my name and feel good about it Many lives I've lived and had to rid (in just this lifetime) and I've realized My name is most important... It can be the name associated with the ones who are forgotten And it can be the name I go to when I have forgotten about myself

My work allows me to feel something other than me yet empowers me, seeing all that is me in everything. It delivers me from bondage, offering nothing. When I'm behind my work, no one knows the pain in my mind, but this pain gives way to understanding. When I no longer exist, I feel certain, completely grounded in who I am. This is the practice of myself—the process of standing.

When I'm behind my work No one is aware of the pain in my mind and if anything… The pain gives way to understanding
For that amount of time I feel certain. xx-h->

WIGFALL, III or "SSWIII" (pronounced "S-S-W-3") is a Multi-Media Artist specializing in A/V work living in Los Angeles, California creating a diverse collection of rude art slaps upon a variety of 3D media with his love for all different genres of music, visuals, abstract art, sci-fi movies, robots, machines, geometric shapes and much more: Putting "play into experimentation" with Cinema 4D, After-Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator as the heart of his process while pushing the boundaries of visual music, story-telling and unique branding to unseen fun and interesting levels.

SSWIII - the work of Switzon S. Wigfall, III

Statement:
My objective for this particular performance is to get the audience to push their imaginations of what my silent 3d-abstract videos could sound like in their own mind without any music or sound involved throughout the visual experience.

He has collaborated with artists and scientists in a variety of disciplines including land-planning, architecture, installation, animation, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and video games. By continually changing the field to which he applies his computer-graphics skills, Kurosh's work matures while he maintains the enthusiasm of an amateur.

Pushing Light Through a Darkened Palette

Statement:
Pushing Light Through a Darkened Palette is a visualization of, and possibly a trigger for, the low-grade euphoric experience of an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR). I adapt the computer graphics technique of Color Cycling (a.k.a. Palette Animation) to step white or a bright color though the histogram of an image. On screen, this looks like a thin band of light scanning the surface of the framed object and mimics the reported characteristic of a tingling sensation moving down the back of the neck and upper arms. I repeat this technique on images of objects associated with ASMR with the hope that the audience-participants of SoundPedro will have a beneficial therapeutic experience.

They formed in New York City to create experimental videos, concept soundtracks and audiovisual performances. Currently, the collective consists of an evolving group of fabricators, videographers, music makers and performers. Their goal is to liberate imaginations through unique collaborations with artists in sound, movement and video.

Dreamlands

Statement:
Dreamlands was originally created for an audiovisual performance and video installation based on the concepts of expanded and synaesthetic cinema. Synaesthetic cinema is an aesthetic language guided by the senses to create non-narrative films. In Dreamlands, we have captured a macro world of metal powders morphing from sound waves, as well as waves of metal powder moved into clusters by magnetic force. This macro world let's the viewer be guided by their imagination through physical manifestations of sound.

sARTe ( ECasuga )

sARTe ( ECasuga ) is a contemporary visual artist from Southern California, who uses painting, sculpture and video as modes of expression to explore her affinity for Science and Art.
Her goal is to seduce the viewer with luminous layered works and “open-ended” visuals to create an uncanny simulacrum of microscopic “internal-scapes,” while at the same time suggests the feeling of psychological journeys into cosmological galaxies, meteorological morphologies or subatomic space.

She uses her knowledge and background in scientific lab research as a point of departure for her artistic explorations in “Scientific Abstraction.”

Artist Statement:

The wind whispers.
Feel the sound of the warm Southern California sun
raining on undulating bright orange poppies.
Listen to the (dis)quieting squeeze of organelles
inside a semi-transparent hoverfly larvae.
Have you ever heard the bending of space-time
and gravitational lensing?

I want the visual imagery to SPEAK !

Soundless Sound is a silent SciArt video
that explores the psychology and visual perception of sounds created by life/nature;
of audible sounds elicited by the viewer/audience as they experience/react to the visuals;
and the possible responses, real or imagined, by hypnotic visual stimuli created by an unintentional meditative ASMR (Autonomic Sensory Meridian Response) due to synesthesia (tendency of the mind to work in combination with our different senses to make-whole/interpret the abstract/open-ended imagery).

Imagery and other simulacra were shot using an iPhone. Some things are not what they seem.
As a counterpoint to life in 2019, I felt compelled to include short clips from TV and internet to give voice to the unheard (Credits at the end of the 12-minute video loop).

In short, I want to create a visual space --- a point of departure for transmigration of thought --- where the viewer's mind can wander and be transported into a mesmerizing voyage of sorts.
Hearing what is seen and seeing what is audible is open to each individual's interpretation depending upon their own unique experience of “Soundless Sound.”

C. Matthew Luther

Matthew Luther is a multi-media and video artist based in Riverside California. His work explores the human relationship to nature and the connection of visual imagery to memory, the subconscious and its effect. Luther was a recent Visiting Professor of Art and Design at Hubei University of Technology in Wuhan China. He has exhibited internationally including recent shows in China, Italy, and South Korea. Luther has been a visiting Artist-in-Residence in Iceland, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

Life of Water

Statement:
I am interested in the theoretically ideas of dark ecology and the moment of a post-nature ecological idealism we have entered. The core of my work is photographic and time-based. In my practice photographs are used in combination with paint and printmaking techniques to build the base of digital artworks that investigate concepts of abstraction, human ideology, and digital consciousness in connection with nature. This can be seen in current studio work as a dialogue between abstraction in painting and the digital interface of photography. As a painter I use abstraction as a language similar to how I view my interaction with computer software, as a tool. I take a similar approach when discussing the paradigms and critiques of abstraction, representation, and aura in painting and photography. I find myself constructing a dialogue through the element of digital trompe l'oeil. Scanning paintings at a high resolution, reframing, printing them using photographic and printmaking processes then painting, gold leafing or screen printing on top of the printed surface. I am interested in opening up that conversation beyond the movement of pigment on canvas to the notions of compressed space, illusion, and the phenomenological qualities that occur in the process. Focal depth is altered, details are hyper-realized, and colors become something more than milled pigment as they are reproduced in CMYK and the content that builds the abstraction becomes paramount.
